Lima, Feb 8 (Prensa Latina) Peru´s former President Alberto Fujimori´s trial has reactivated a request to stop sending Peruvian soldiers to the US-based School of the Américas (SOA).

The director of the Pro Human Rights Association (Aprodeh), Francisco Soberon, said the School of the Americas, in the US state of Georgia, must be closed, , a center teaches them criminal techniques used in massacres blamed on the defendant.

During the trial of Fujimori (1990-2000), several former members of the Colina Group, which executed the massacres blamed on the defendant, confirmed that they had implemented techniques learned at the School of the Americas, including clandestine graves and the use of lime to bury the victims.

Journalist Humberto Jara, author of a book on the Colina Group, pointed out that the creation of deaths squads such as the abovementioned group, and the procedures they used are included in the school's operation manuals.

The newspaper La Primera reported the military officers that ruled with Fujimori, organized the exterminating commandos and led the so-called counterinsurgent "dirty war" were trained at the School of the Americas.

The trial of Fujimori is about, among other crimes, the massacres of Barrios Altos and La Cantuta, where 25 suspects of subversion, including an eight-year-old kid, were executed by the Colina Group.
