Call for an end to the criminalization of COPINH leaders PDF Print E-mail

Join in the International Day of Action to call for freedom for Berta Caceres, Aureliano Molina, and Tomas Gomez of COPINH!

Call the US State Department Honduras Desk:
202-647-3505

Sample script: I'm calling to urge the State Department and US Embassy to speak out against the jailing of Honduran Indigenous leader Berta Caceres and to publicly call for all charges against Berta Caceres, Tomas Gomez and Aureliano Molina to be dropped. Also, I urge the US to cut aid to the Honduran military and National Police, which are implicated in the criminalization and human rights violations against COPINH and the Indigenous Lenca people of Rio Blanco, and ensure that no US aid is used by military and police units occupying Rio Blanco.

Send an e-mail to the US and Honduran authorities calling for the bogus charges against Berta Caceres, Aureliano Molina, and Tomas Gomez to be dropped.

Write a personal letter to your Senators and Representatives asking them to contact the US Embassy in Honduras to speak out for the charges to be dropped.  Read the full alert from Rights Action here and also find a sample letter.
