Theresa takes the SOA to trial!

On Friday, January 13th, Theresa Cusimano, 43, will carry the torch of truth to the halls of the Columbus federal courthouse, where she will be tried for her act of civil disobedience at Fort Benning. Her act was the culmination of SOA Watch Vigil from November 19-20, 2011, when thousands descended on the SOA/WHINSEC to demand an end to militarization.

Due to her courageous stand to demand the truth and shed light on the injustices carried out at the SOA/WHINSEC, Theresa takes her witness to Judge Stephen Hyles and faces up to 6 months in a federal prison. In 2008, she already served two months in prison for carrying her message over the gates.

Theresa's trial will start on Friday, January 13th at 9am. She and her supporters - including Georgia NAACP President Edward DuBose and SARN Regional Director Theresa El-Amin - will hold a press conference on the steps of the courthouse at 8:30am (Click here to download the media release).

We will not be swayed by the threat of prison time or repression! Three-hundred different people have been sentenced for acts of civil disobedience to close the SOA, and over 100 years have been served in prison. The resistance is vibrant, strong and growing!
