Peace Activist Father Roy Bourgeois to Speak at St, Mary's Episcopal Church Parish Hall on U of Penn Campus

(Philadelphia, PA) Outspoken former Maryknoll priest Roy Bourgeois who was ousted from the Maryknoll Order in November 2012 for his vocal support of women's ordination in the Roman Catholic Church will speak on Sunday, October 13th in the Parish Hall of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 3916 Locust Walk on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. His talk from 3PM to 4 PM will be followed by a Q & A session until 5 PM. Admission is free and the public is invited.
Father Bourgeois' talk, From Silence to Solidarity will trace his personal journey in speaking out on human rights issues and those marginalized in our society such as the poor and the homeless.
For more than 40 years, Roy Bourgeois, a former Vietnam veteran, Purple Heart recipient and human rights activist has been an advocate for peace, justice and equality. He was nominated for the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize for his ongoing effort to shut down the School of the America's training facility on Fort Benning military base in Georgia.
