Join the 2017 Spring Days of Action! Print
SOA Watch's 2017 Spring Days of Action are now through May 12, 2017! During the next month, we want you to contact your Representative and/or take part in actions in honor of Berta Caceres and in support of Central American asylum-seekers.

Register here, if you are interested in planning an action and/or lobbying your Representative. Once registered, we will follow up with you individually to make sure you are prepared to effectively participate in the Days of Action in the next month!

What are ways that you can participate in SOA Watch's Spring Days of Action?

1) Schedule an "in district" meeting near your home with your Member of Congress. Ask them to co-sponsor the Berta Cáceres Human Rights in Honduras Act, HR 1299, and to oppose using your tax money for Trump's Border Wall and more persecution of Migrants and asylum-seekers. Here are the simple steps that you need to take in order to schedule and prepare for your meeting.

2) Visit the Town Hall Project to find out if your Member of Congress is having a Town Hall in the coming month. If you want to attend, let us know and we can send you flyers and other materials to take to your Town Hall. See video here of supporters effectively bird dogging their Representative at a recent Town Hall.

3) Plan an event/vigil/action in honor of Berta Cáceres and the people of Honduras. This could be at your Representative's office or a public space. No more tax money funding and training the corrupt and repressive Honduran government! Let us know what you need to prepare your own event, or support the April-May tour of two Honduran feminists traveling through the U.S.

4) Participate in local organizing supporting migrants and asylum-seekers. There are networks and organizations all over the country doing great work supporting migrants' rights. Community Initiatives for Visiting Immigrants in Confinement (CIVIC), trains volunteers to visit and otherwise support detained migrants. Visit their website to find out how to get involved: http://www.endisolation.org/ Just today in Virginia, a new group, La ColectiVa, organized folks to go to an Immigration Court Hearing in support of Cesar, a young Guatemalan asylum-seeker. Contact us if you need help locating your local migrant rights' organizations/networks.

5) Email your Representative to ask them to support the Berta Cáceres Human Rights in Honduras Act and stay tuned for our call in day to oppose the Border Wall and more migrant detention and deportation next week!
