As a movement dedicated to justice, SOA Watch activists have always been at the forefront of carrying out non-violent civil disobedience to call attention to the larger crimes happening around us. As the US increases its violent presence in the Americas, we must stand up again and speak truth to power.

WHITE HOUSE ACTION:

On the afternoon of Sunday, April 10th, following the conclusion of the 5th LASC Conference, SOA Watch activists and supporters plan to carry out a march and rally at the White House.  The march with include speakers, puppets, music and lots of fun! Bring your friends, and bring a banner!

Once we arrive at the White House, the direct action team plans a creative and impactful civil disobedience scenario that SOA Watch activists can participate in.

There will be space for people who do not want to or cannot risk arrest in Lafayette Park (across from White House).  The direct action team is working with the legal collective to explore possible jail times and fines for those who are willing to risk arrest.  Please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. WOMEN AND MOTHERS' CONTINGENT:
Wearing white scarves in solidarity with the mothers of the disappeared in Latin America, there will be a women and mothers' contingent joining us in the march to the White House. If you would like to be a part of this contingent, please contact Paki Wieland at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

PENTAGON ACTION:

On Friday, April 8th, the National Campaign for Nonviolent Resistance (www.warisacrime.org/disarmageddon) has called for civil disobedience to be carried out at the Pentagon, under the name “Operation Disarmageddon”.  As one of the prime symbols and manufacturers of aggressive US foreign policy, the Pentagon is a natural place for SOA Watch activists to speak out.  We endorse this action, and encourage groups and individuals to heed the call to action.  For more information, please contact Joy First at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

The planning meeting for this action will take place at Friends Meeting House of Washington DC - 2111 Florida Ave NW on Thursday, April 7 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm.

We must up the ante, push the envelope, and risk arrest in order to call attention to the continued training of repressive troops at the School of the Americas and the accelerating U.S. militarization of the Americas. Please consider joining the nonviolent direct action in Washington, DC. Again, if you are interested in engaging in arrestable actions at the White House, please contact our field organizer Nico in the SOA Watch office in DC at 202-234-3440 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
