SOA WATCH LOBBYING AND CALL-IN DAY ~ MONDAY, APRIL 11

Grassroots lobbying has always been a hallmark of the movement to close the SOA.  As we move into a new Congressional year, we are cognizant that our work to end US militarization is as important as ever.

End your week of action in Washington, DC by visiting your Representatives and Senators on April 11 to urge them to support the efforts to close the SOA/WHINSEC. We will be asking Representatives to sign a letter urging President Obama to issue an Executive  Order closing the school. We will also be shoring up support for an upcoming House bill.

lobbyingWhat you can do now: organize a group from your district to come to Washington, gather signatures on the petition urging President Obama to close the SOA, and start planning your visits.  Grassroots lobbying is an effective tool, but it needs all of us! Those unable to make the trip to DC can call Congress on April 11.

Lobby Training: SOA Watch will have a special Lobby Training Workshop on the morning of April 11 up-to-date information, information packets to leave with Representatives, and tips for visits.

Time: 8:30 – 10:00
Place: Parish Hall, Lutheran Church of the Reformation
212 East Capitol Street
Washington, DC 20003

10:00- 4:00 Conference Room, Lutheran Church of the Reformation
We will be in the conference room all day to collect visit reports and provide materials.

Lobby Training Workshops will also be available in the mornings for those making Congressional visits April 5 - 8.

The SOA Watch Lobbying Packet contains information that will help you get started.
The April Action pages will help you plan your stay in DC. Both will be updated
regularly, so keep checking back as April approaches.

SIGN THE PETITION TO PRESIDENT OBAMA!skull

We have a specific demand to President Obama in April: sign an executive order to close the SOA/WHINSEC! We understand that the SOA/WHINSEC is but one small symbol of US domination and aggression in the hemisphere.  President Obama should know that there is no justification for spending our taxes to train assassins.  We will compound the signatures of thousands who have already signed the petition with our direct action at the White House on Sunday, April 10th.  Sign the petition today, and circulate it among your networks!
